Taleis Heap

Taleis was well aware that it was past curfew as he walked down to the beach, earbuds placed firmly in his ears. Taleis was pretty sure it was playing a just a bit louder than was healthy, but he didn't really mind. Since when did he ever mind things like that?

Taleis wasn't sure what the song was - he was pretty sure it was something by Panic! At the Disco, or whatever that band that Aidan obsessed over was. He had forced Taleis to download all of the music he listened to, yet Aidan still refused to listen to Blink 182. Taleis never really did understand Aidan.

Pulling his thoughts away from his friend, Taleis glanced out across the water. The moon reflected on the waves, which looked really cool, but kind of ominous. He decided that he liked the way it looked, and if he ad a camera, Taleis probably would have taken a picture. Not that he'd tell anyone. Well, aside from Aidan. Nobody else would really understand why Taleis would want to take a picture of something like the moon reflecting on the ocean. Which kind of said something about the people Taleis associated himself with, but he couldn't really help it. The only solution would be to suddenly act like a complete ass to them so they wouldn't want to be around him anymore, and Taleis wasn't going to do that. He may be a heartless jerk to his dates, but he wasn't about to do that to his friends.

Finding himself being pulled towards the water, Taleis gave up on walking in a straight line and took off his shoes and socks, rolled up the legs of his trousers, and walked so his feet were in the water. It was slightly cold, just so much that he jumped a little, but not horribly so. His feet got used to it pretty quickly.

Arthur was currently in a tree, somewhat far from the beach, just observing the entire camp, lying down on one of the highest branches. His peicering royal purple eyes were on the beach now, and, although he would never admit it to anyone, he found the sight phenomenal. The moon was reflecting on the waves of the ocean, shining brilliantly on the surface.

Arthur placed his hand on the diamond hilt on his dirk, fiddling around at it. Arthur had normally stayed out of bed for a while after curfew due to various reasons, but most notably to observe everything else. He had always made mental notes of everyone and everything. How else would he succeed in his next heist? As he chuckled a bit, taking another scan of the area, he had spotted someone.

It looked to be a five foot nine inch tall male, with curly hair. It seemed, from the light of the moon to be brown, but Arthur wasn't too sure. His face shown a man not younger than 16, but nothing older than 18.

Arthur sat there a bit, watching. What was the point of going down there and talking? None, really. Though, Arthur had to admit, he was rather bored at the moment. Usually there was stuff more interesting going on, such as some campers having a fight late at night, or a person could see the nymphs running in and out of the woods. Nothing like that today, though.

Arthur shrugged. Sure, why not? He took out his cane and while jumping down, attached the hook of the cane to the branch he was just on, and leaped down in a graceful motion, landing almost cat-like on the ground. Placing his cane back into it's leather holster on his back, Arthur leasurly strolled to the beach, walking on the soft sands.

"Hey," Arthur said like a soft greeting to him, reaching the boy from behind his back. "Rather pleasant night to go for a luxurious walk on the beach, is it not?"

Thinking he head something, Taleis paused his music and took out one of his earbuds. He glanced over his shoulder to see if anyone was there, and, much to his surprise (not really) there was someone behind him. All he could think was, 'For the love of the gods, this better not be one of those psycho-murders-for-fun campers.' Because Taleis had heard stories of them, and, really, Taleis didn't want to die. And even if he did want to die, he was sure he'd want to die in a way less painful than being murdered by some dude on the beach.

Then that got Taleis to wondering what his what his gran would think, and his grandfather, and possibly even his father, although he didn't know if his father would even find out his only son had died. It didn't seem like that stuff traveled well in prison. Taleis' mum would obviously find out, being the goddess of ghosts and all. The only person that Taleis knew would be distressed was Aidan.

"Sorry, I don't think I caught that. What did you say?" Taleis asked. He was shocked at how calm he sounded while he was thinking of being murdered on the beach at fuck knows what o'clock. Well, no, he really wasn't. Not too much, at least. There was always a little bit of a shock when Taleis realized he didn't snap things out to strangers or stutter and stumble over his words or yell at people to leave him alone. That's where twelve years of pretending got you. Besides, if it was sunny out, Taleis probably wouldn't even be thinking these things.

'Yes you would,' a voice nags from the back of Taleis' head that sounds suspiciously like his own, but he brushes this off. Really, he doesn't need his conscious or whatever it was reminding him that he had trust issues. Taleis knew he did and he was fine without being pestered about them, thank you very much, stupid voice.

Taleis was starting to wish he had just stayed in his cabin for the night and slept. But really, Taleis knew he would have been lying awake for hours. So he decided to sneak out just before curfew and take a walk. That always seemed like a good solution, and it always had been. But that was before some fucking ninja came out of the shadows and started trying to talk to him. And really, Taleis didn't trust strangers who tried to talk to him in the middle of the night. Fuck, Taleis didn't even trust strangers.

"I said," Arthur replied without a tone of annoyance or anything similar, "'Tis a splendid night to have a calming walk on the beach, is it not?" He repeated, now walking beside the boy, Arthur's brown hair now starting to get ruffled by the winds of the beach. His purple eyes fell on the boy, then to the waves on the beach. His scarred face then went to the boy.

"So, what reason did you find that made it essential to saunter so late into the night?" He now asked the boy. Arthur could hardly care less why the boy was walking, though his tone did not show it. He just wanted to burn some time with something more interesting than sitting in a tree and looking at everything.

Yep, Taleis definitely didn't trust this guy. The purple eyes and scarred face were enough for him. Besides, he talked funny. Not funny like 'haha' funny, but more like 'what the fuck is wrong with you' funny. As in just downright weird.

Turning his head to look towards the water, Taleis carefully chose his words. "I have trouble sleeping. Walking helps me get tired," he said with a shrug. It was true to some extent. Taleis did have trouble sleeping, but he didn't usually go on walks to get tired or whatever. But nobody really had to know that, did they? Taleis had lied enough to be able to do so convincingly, and really, he didn't get why he'd have to tell a stranger the truth.

((Sorry for the crap post, my brain is severely lacking in creativity right now))

"Ah," Arthur said with a small nod. "Insomnia is quite irksome, or so I have derived from those individuals that have spoken about it. On no case have I heard someone who actually finds happiness in it." He said, with a slight shrug. In all honesty, he had only come across three people who had insomnia, not as much as he led this boy to believe. He also sensed some omission from his statement (being that he omitted much from his statements), but decided not to inquire further about the subject.

'Right,' Taleis thinks, because, really, he's getting kind of tired with the way this boy talks, and he thinks that maybe trying to sleep would be better than spending time talking to him. Besides, he didn't even know his name. Not that he intended on finding out. Taleis didn't care about what his name was, he didn't even care about what he had to say about his apparent 'insomnia', which really was just the first excuse Taleis could think of.

Taleis needed a reason to get out of this conversation. He needed one more than a man dying of thirst needed water. Well, alright, maybe not that bad, but still, he needed to get out of that conversation pretty badly. After thinking of all the things he knew about camp that could possibly serve as an excuse, he finally thought of something.

Glancing at his watch, Taleis says, "Well, I probably should head back to my cabin now. Wouldn't want to get caught by the harpies." He gives the boy a small wave as he turns around and walks back in the direction he came from, not once stopping until he arrives at his cabin.

Arthur raised his hand in a wave as the boy left. Yeah, harpies -- because that's exactly the reason why one would leave their beach-side saunter when they should have considered that coming here. Running his hand through his short and wavy brown hair, he again looked at the ocean. Perhaps it was time for him to leave to go to the Hermes cabin. Crossing his arm, he did exactly that. He walked to the Hermes cabin, hoping for a more interesting night tomorrow.
