Taking a Walk

I strolled into the woods near the creek with Ryan and watched the water. "Peaceful." I grinned.

I looked at him as we walked, thinking of possible conversation. I came up blank. "Soooo...."

I puffed up my cheeks and continued to think, think, think.

I watched the fire and tried to mimick it with light instead. I balanced the successful orb on my fingertip. "Interesting."

I smiled back up at him. "Thanks."

I let the light escape and sink into the light reflecting off of the creek. "So what now, Mr. Sir?"

I turned to the sound and reached for my bracelet....only to remember I had left it back at my bunk. "What was that?"

I grabbed his hand nervously. "I'm scared." I admitted quietly.

I took a few breaths and glowed to light up the area more. I saw a large shadow and gasped.

I let him pull me behind and lit up a bit more. A face was revealed; a thick-skulled mass of brown and gray fur that smelled distinctly like meatloaf and gym socks. It's snout flexed as it took in our scent. He focused his half bull-half human eyes on us and snorted. "R-R-Ryan?" I whimpered.

I stopped glowing completely and followed his directions. I used my softball skills to chuck a ball of light to the minotaur's right. His eyes widened at the bright movement and he charged....straight at me. "HOLY CHEDDAR-CHEESE SNACKS!" I sprinted in the opposite direction.

The Minotaur cried out and thrashed around, it's head slowly being charred. I turned back around did some quick thinking. I pulled out a solar-powered grenade (made in Korea!) and started to heat it. "Be careful!" I shouted to Ryan to duck!"

"Got it!" I give the thing a boot, then roll off.

The grenade started beeping dangerously, so I threw it inside of it's wide, and creepy, mouth. I rolled to some bushes and trees for cover as the thing exploded with a shriek. My eyes were buzzing from the explosion; I hadn't had the chance to cover them. So I sat motionlessly behind a rock, not opening my eyes.
